Extra named Britain’s top motorway services operator

We are incredibly proud that we have secured our position this year as Britain’s number one motorway service operator, having ranked top of the “big four” for overall customer satisfaction in 2023. With 96% of our customers saying that they are satisfied or very satisfied with the visitor experience we offer, we have ranked the highest of all motorway service operators and have also been given the top spot for customer satisfaction with our toilets.
Additionally, we’re delighted that Leeds Skelton Lake (M1, J45) has been revealed as the fifth most highly recommended service station in the UK and the ninth best service station overall in this year’s Transport Focus Motorway Services User Survey.
The results were revealed by Transport Focus at an event hosted by us at Leeds Skelton Lake. Chief executives, stakeholders, and influencers from across the country gathered to receive the news and celebrate an industry-wide uptick in customer satisfaction.
Boasting an award-winning design complete with a living green roof, Leeds Skelton Lake has received a 98% satisfaction rate, having been praised for the friendliness and helpfulness of its staff, the cleanliness of its toilets, and the building’s overall appearance.
Respondents also commented on its brand lineup, which includes Pizza Express, Nando’s, and Leon, alongside Motorway Service Area favorites such as KFC, Starbucks, and Spar.
First opened in April 2020, Leeds Skelton Lake also offers 350KW Ultra Rapid EV charging points provided by IONITY, a business center, an RSPB wildlife visitor center, and a children’s outdoor play area. Located near several nature trails, it welcomes thousands of visitors traveling on foot, bike, and car annually.
