Over a decade of collaboration: Reflecting on Extra and SNAP’s strategic partnership

We have been reflecting on our successful partnership with SNAP, which first began in 2011 and has continued to grow ever since.

The partnership has primarily supported in our commitment to HGV drivers, allowing us to provide better visibility of our parking, fuel and washing facilities, to support in making their visits more enjoyable.

The broad SNAP customer base has allowed us to reach an additional 30,000 customers annually, and in 2023, we recorded 260,066 SNAP parking sessions at our services.

We expanded our partnership with the additional installation of SNAP Access and Security Systems across all of our sites. The security technology provides added protection for our visitors, giving them greater peace of mind during their rest stops.

The installation marked one of SNAP Access and Security’s most comprehensive projects to date. A great investment into customer safety, the systems have reduced the risk of criminal activity on our sites.

This investment has also provided added assurance to HGV drivers, who expressed particular concern about vehicle security in the 2023 Transport Focus – Motorway User Survey. These added systems have strengthened our existing offer of security-guard patrolled, overnight parking.

Group Operations Director, Ross Mendenhall, said:

“We are committed to boosting the satisfaction rate of the HGV drivers that stop with us and being part of the SNAP network enables us to do just this.

“Through the app, we can grow our partnerships and organic sales by giving customers an efficient tool to learn more about our facilities, including how we can make their stay enjoyable, relaxing and secure.”
