New ESG Manager at Extra MSA
We have recently appointed Michael Grantham as our dedicated environmental, social and governance (ESG) manager, accelerating our sustainability, accessibility and equality agenda across our UK network.
Michael’s new role involves spearheading the development of a new ESG strategy, working with employees business-wide to ensure their diverse and inclusive backgrounds are reflected, and regularly engaging with key stakeholders to ensure we maximise our commitment to creating accessible, sustainable and inclusive rest stops across our eight MSAs.
A strong ESG ambition is crucial for businesses, and in recognition of this, we have appointed Michael to progress our Net Zero Carbon Strategy, by transitioning to cleaner energy, and to achieve 90% in the Zero Waste Index by 2030, by improving recycling rates in the food courts.
Michael is also supporting our efforts to foster a more inclusive, equal and accessible social strategy through employee engagement programs, creating purpose-driven charity and volunteering opportunities, and building on existing collaborations with like-minded responsible businesses such as Ahead Partnership.
Michael commented: “I join Extra at an exciting time, where there is a real appetite to push the ESG standards of motorway service stations, as well as being at the forefront of the UK’s net zero vehicle transition. I’m passionate about working with colleagues to transition to greener practices and delivering positive change, and I’m glad I have the opportunity to do so with the leading UK provider of motorway services.”
Tom Dobson, CEO at Extra MSA Group, said: “It’s great to welcome Michael to the team. He will be crucial for strengthening Extra’s ESG agenda by leading our investment in low-carbon solutions, motivating employees through fulfilling and inclusive careers, and growing our customer base through enhanced wellbeing and biodiverse spaces.”
