Extra MSA Group will proudly sponsor the 2024 British Transplant Games, with this being the third consecutive year that we have supported the event.
The British Transplant Games have been organised by the charity Transplant Sport since 1978. This exciting event aims to raise awareness around the need for more individuals to join the NHS Organ Donation Register and to encourage an open conversation between patients and their families to show the life-changing effect that organ donation can have.
The games bring together transplant recipients from 3 to 80 year-olds and their relatives to celebrate their renewed health and fitness by competing in a variety of activities and raise money to support the patients in need of additional medical support. The cultural event attracts over 1,000 transplant athletes and 1,700 attendees watching the 25 sporting events every year.
We first got involved with the initiative in 2021 by hosting the British Transplant Games Cycling Sportive at Leeds Skelton Lake services (M1 Junction 45). Understanding the positive impact that the Games make and hearing the stories from transplant recipients, we have committed to fully sponsor the event since 2022.
